I thought I would share a little about myself! I am a part of the Foundation Stock Service Group of Dogs. I tend to weigh 40lbs and after I get into the dog food and peanut butter jar I can weigh up to 60lbs. Some people describe me as Intelligent, Loving or Responsive. I'll usually be in your life for around 13 to 15 years so make sure you are ready for a long-term commitment!
The Stabyhoun is a rare Dutch breed, known for its versatility as a hunting dog and family pet. They have a long, sleek black and white coat and are calm, intelligent, and affectionate. Stabyhouns are excellent swimmers and retrievers, and they maintain a strong attachment to their families.
Grooming
Higher ratings mean Stabyhouns need more frequent grooming while lower ratings require less grooming maintenance

Shedding is a natural process for Stabyhouns, where they lose old or damaged hair to make room for new growth. In terms of dogs, shedding helps maintain a healthy coat and regulate body temperature. Most dogs experience shedding seasons, typically in the spring and fall, when they shed their winter or summer coats. These seasons can last several weeks, during which you might notice an increase in the amount of fur around your home.
For Stabyhouns with moderate to frequent shedding (ratings 4-7), shedding is a regular occurrence, especially during shedding seasons. These dogs will shed a noticeable amount of hair, and you might find fur around your home more frequently. Regular brushing, about once a week, is necessary to manage their shedding and keep their coats healthy.
