I thought I would share a little about myself! I am a part of the Foundation Stock Service Group of Dogs. I tend to weigh 90lbs and after I get into the dog food and peanut butter jar I can weigh up to 150lbs. Some people describe me as Amiable, Loving or Watchful. I'll usually be in your life for around 8 to 10 years so make sure you are ready for a long-term commitment!
The Broholmer, also known as the Danish Mastiff, is a large breed that was historically used as a guard dog on estates and manors in Denmark. They are known for their imposing size and calm, watchful demeanor. Despite their size, Broholmers are known to be gentle and affectionate with their families, and they maintain a protective instinct. This breed requires space to move and moderate daily exercise.

Shedding is a natural process for Broholmers, where they lose old or damaged hair to make room for new growth. In terms of dogs, shedding helps maintain a healthy coat and regulate body temperature. Most dogs experience shedding seasons, typically in the spring and fall, when they shed their winter or summer coats. These seasons can last several weeks, during which you might notice an increase in the amount of fur around your home.
For Broholmers with moderate to frequent shedding (ratings 4-7), shedding is a regular occurrence, especially during shedding seasons. These dogs will shed a noticeable amount of hair, and you might find fur around your home more frequently. Regular brushing, about once a week, is necessary to manage their shedding and keep their coats healthy.
Shedding is a sign of a healthy coat. It’s how your Broholmer naturally replaces old fur with new.
